How to Apply

To apply for financial aid the student will need to decide what types of financial aid he/she wants to apply for and fill out the appropriate forms. To see what the different types of financial aid that is available look in the Types of Financial Aid section. Listed below are the forms the student will need to complete.

Basic Financial Aid Documents

  • Dutchess Community College Financial Aid Application: This is the basic document that the student has to fill out to apply for any type of aid at Dutchess Community College. The student can get this application in the Office of Financial Aid at DCC
  • Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): This is the form the student will need to fill out to determine if he/she is eligible for any type of Federal financial aid. The student has two options to consider when completing the FAFSA form.

    1. The student can get the FAFSA form from his high school guidance office or pick up the FAFSA form at DCC's Office of Financial Aid. The next step is to fill out the form and mail it out with the attached self-addressed envelope. This option takes about 4-6 weeks for the FAFSA to be processed.

    2. The student could also fill out the FAFSA form on the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the instructions. Note: The student and parents can sign the form electronically if they want, by getting a pin number from the federal government. The student and parents can request this number at www.pin.ed.gov. This process takes about 7-10 business days before the pin number reaches the Student/parents' mailbox. This option takes about 7-10 business days for the FAFSA to be processed.
