- If you are withdrawing completely from the semester (dropping down to zero credits) and you have any type of federal financial aid (including student loans), you may owe money back to the College, the federal government, or both.
- The amount that you owe will depend on how much of the semester you attended and the aid that you earned through your attendance.
- If you are withdrawing to zero credits prior to the 11th week of the semester having elapsed, you may have to repay part or all of your federal financial aid.
- It is to your advantage, if possible, to continue in some or all of your classes; consult with your faculty.
- Unofficial withdrawal (stop attending) may result in owing money back to the college and the federal government and receiving all F grades for the semester.
- You will be notified by the Office of Student Accounts within 30 days of the date of your official withdrawal regarding any amount of money that you owe.
- You will have up to 45 days after notification to satisfy any obligation or establish a means of satisfying the obligation.
- Failure to repay any monies that you were not eligible for will prohibit you from registering at Dutchess Community College and/or receiving federal financial aid from any college in the U.S. that participates in federal student aid programs.
