COURSE DESCRIPTION

The seminar will introduce the incoming student to the profession of architecture and construction management. The course will introduce the student to life at Dutchess Community College, outline the history of architecture, the educational requirements for becoming an architect and the allied professions available to the graduate.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS

            The main instruction method used in ARC 113 is lecture and the classroom experience.  The discussion during lecture will introduce the student to the college and college life as well as the profession of architecture and construction management.  Labs will be used to give the student the chance to explore the lecture.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1.                  Attendance is required.  Students missing more then two meetings will be dropped one letter grade. Students missing more then three will be dropped two letter grades.

1.Assignments are given for each meeting and are due at the beginning of the following meeting.  Late assignments will not be accepted.  Assignments will only be distributed and accepted during class times to insure attendance.

 

GRADING PRACTICES

Grading is based on classroom attendance and participation and assignments.  Each class will have an assignment due the following meeting.
