Assistant Professor of Paralegal Studies and Program Chair for the Paralegal Degree and Certificate Programs

The Department of Business invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor of paralegal studies who will also serve as Program Chair for the Paralegal Degree (A.A.S) and Paralegal Certificate programs.  In addition to teaching, the Program Chair will administer and provide leadership for the Paralegal Studies Program, including making recommendations regarding curriculum, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and supervision of other faculty in the program.  The successful candidate will articulate a clear strategic vision for the Paralegal Program at Dutchess Community College and have considerable direct experience with paralegals in a law office or practice.  Knowledge of the demands and characteristics of the community college and its students is important. The position requires student advisement and course and program assessment responsibilities, service on department and college committees, and active professional development.  Some evening and/or off campus teaching may be required.

Candidates must have a J.D., or LL.D., or Master’s degree in a related field.  Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated strong leadership and communications skills, teaching experience at the college level, and knowledge or experience with online instruction.
