RECREATION LEADERSHIP

REC 103. RECREATION LEADERSHIP FIELD PRACTICUM I
1 lec. 4 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


Students will experience an extended placement at an agency with community or therapeutic recreational services. Emphasis will be placed on the organization of an agency and services provided. Students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a field supervisor and complete log reports.
Corequisite: BHS 110.

REC 104. RECREATION LEADERSHIP FIELD PRACTICUM II
1 lec. 4 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


REC 104, Recreation Leadership Field Practicum II, is a continuation of Practicum I. Students will experience an extended placement at an agency with community or therapeutic recreational services. Emphasis will be placed on normal development and on communication skills. Students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a field supervisor and complete log reports.
Pre- or Corequisite: PSY 102.

REC 201. ISSUES IN LEADERSHIP
2 lec. 0 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


The study of principles and practices of effective supervision in both community and recreational settings.

REC 202. ADAPTIVE RECREATION
2 lec. 0 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


An examination of the development and adaptation of recreational programs for special populations in both community and therapeutic settings.

REC 203. RECREATION LEADERSHIP FIELD PRACTICUM III
1 lec. 8 lab. 3 cr. hrs.


Students will experience an extended placement at an agency with community or therapeutic recreational services. Emphasis will be placed on recreational leadership and supervision. Students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a field supervisor and complete log reports.
Pre- or Corequisites: REC 201 and PSY 202.

REC 204. RECREATION LEADERSHIP FIELD PRACTICUM IV
1 lec. 8 lab. 3 cr. hrs.


Students will experience an extended placement at an agency with community or therapeutic recreational services. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the recreational needs of special populations. Students also are required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a field supervisor and complete log reports.
Pre- or Corequisites: REC 202 and PSY 207.

REC 271. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT I
1 cr. hr.


A special learning experience designed by one or more students with the cooperation and approval of a faculty member. Proposed study plans require departmental approval. Projects may be based on reading, research, community service, work experience, or other activities that advance the student’s knowledge and competence in the field of recreation leadership or related areas. The student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 35-50 hours.

REC 272. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT II
2 cr. hrs.


Similar to REC 271, except that the student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 70-90 hours.

REC 273. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT III
3 cr. hrs.


Similar to REC 271, except that the student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 105-135 hours.
