CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELING

CHC 103. CHILD CARE AND YOUTH PRACTICUM I
1 lec. 4 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


Students will experience an extended placement at an agency serving children, youth and adults. Emphasis will be placed on organization of an agency and services provided. Students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a College field supervisor and complete log reports.
Pre- or Corequisite: BHS 110.

CHC 104. CHILD CARE AND YOUTH PRACTICUM II
1 lec. 4 lab. 2 cr. hrs.


Students will experience an extended placement at an agency serving children, youth and adults. Emphasis will be placed on normal development and on communication skills. Students are also required to attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a College field supervisor and complete log reports.
Pre- or Corequisites: PSY 102.

CHC 203. CHILD CARE AND YOUTH PRACTICUM III
1 lec. 8 lab. 3 cr. hrs.

Students will experience an extended placement at a mental health

or social service agency serving individuals with chemical dependency issues.

Emphasis will be placed on understanding atypical development

and on treatment interventions. Also, students are required to

attend a weekly seminar class, meet weekly with a college field supervisor

and complete log reports.

Co-requisite: CDC 103.

Pre- or Co-requisite: BHS 242.

CDC 204. CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELING PRACTICUM IV

1 lec. 8 lab. 3 cr. hrs.

Students will experience an extended placement at a mental health

or social service agency serving individuals with chemical dependency issues.

Emphasis will be placed on understanding atypical development,

treatment interventions and on special issues in the field of alcohol and drug abuse. Also, students are also required to attend a weekly

seminar class, meet weekly with a college field supervisor and complete

log reports.

Co-requisite: CDC 104.

Pre- or Co-requisite: BHS 201.

 

CHC 271. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT I
1 cr. hr.


A special learning experience designed by one or more students with
the cooperation and approval of a faculty member. Proposed study plans require departmental approval. Projects may be based on reading, research, community service, work experience, or other activities that advance the student’s knowledge and competence in the field of child care or related areas. The student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 35-50 hours.

CHC 272. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT II
2 cr. hrs.


Similar to CHC 271, except that the student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 70-90 hours.

CHC 273. SPECIAL STUDY PROJECT III
3 cr. hrs.


Similar to CHC 271, except that the student’s time commitment to the project will be approximately 105-135 hours.
