Sharpen Your Skills with Self-Study Programs: In these courses you study on your own using computer software. Sharpen Your Study Skills is an opportunity for adult learners to brush up on basic skills by studying at their own pace outside the formal classroom setting. Come to the DCC Student Academic Success Center where you can work independently on mastering or refreshing essential skills. The courses are geared to the mature, competent student who can effectively work alone. Location: Hudson Hall, Room 315. For information call (845) 431- 8090. The $10 fee listed is for semester-long access.

STU 701 Basic Mathematical Skills & Bridge into Algebra

Internet based computer assisted instruction provides student instruction and practice in the use of whole numbers, fractions, ratios, decimals and percentages. Introductory algebra topics, such as signed numbers, polynomials, linear and quadratic equations, factoring and rational expressions, are also available. Fee: $10

STU 702 Grammar Review

Internet based computer assisted instruction provides student instruction and practice in English mechanics, grammar, usage and punctuation. Fee: $10

STU 703 Developmental Reading Instruction

Internet based computer assisted instruction provides student instruction and practice to improve reading comprehension skills and vocabulary. In addition students can use ACE Speedreader to improve reading speed and comprehension. Fee: $10

STU 704 English as a Second Language(ESL): Listening and Reading Comprehension Skills
ELLIS software, state-of-the-art ESL instructional media, offers ESL students instruction in speaking, reading, and writing English. This module gives language learners the opportunity to review and practice the reading, writing, and listening skills necessary to to become proficient in English. The course is appropriate for students of any skill level. It is particularly targeted for students whose skill level is too low to enroll in DCC’s credit course ENG095 / 096 and for students who have no interest in attending college but wish to improve their American English skills. Fee: $10

STU754 Refresh My Skills for College

Refresh My Skills for College provides incoming DCC students a review of writing, reading and math skills. Individual assistance from the Office of Academic Services & Testing utilizes computer-assisted instruction; registration is $10 for unlimited visits. Students gain the opportunity to improve course placement through retesting. Sessions are arranged on an individual basis through Academic Services. Fee: $10
