Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – One hundred and forty seven scholarship awards were handed out at Dutchess Community College’s Honors Convocation on May 21, an increase of 10 from one year ago.

More than $110,000 in scholarship money was awarded to students this year, and more than $825,000 has been given in the Convocation ceremonies since they began 13 years ago.

The scholarships are awarded to both students entering their second year at DCC and to graduating students who are moving on to four-year colleges and universities in the fall. The scholarships are created by area residents and organizations to honor family members and reward academic excellence.
