Approximately 180 Dutchess Community College business and community leaders, donors and friends gathered Jan. 5 for the 19th Annual President's Breakfast held on the College's Poughkeepsie campus. The keynote address was given by Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro, a graduate of DCC's Class of 2001.

28 Nov 2011Holocaust Expert to Lecture on Psychology of Genocide
Dr. James Waller, professor and Cohen Chair of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Keene State College in New Hampshire, will come to Dutchess Community College on Thursday, Dec. 8 to discuss "Becoming Evil: How Ordinary People Commit Genocide and Mass Killing." The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre, and is free and open to the public.

The Dutchess Community College Foundation will host its 40th Annual Craft Fair on Thanksgiving weekend, November 26 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day on the DCC main campus in Poughkeepsie.

27 Oct 2011Full-Tuition Scholarships Awarded
Thirty-nine Dutchess Community College freshmen were formally awarded the 2011 Charles E. and Mabel E. Conklin Scholarship for Academic Excellence recently, joining family members and Mr. and Mrs. Conklin for a luncheon on campus. When combined with the Conklin scholars who began at DCC last fall, approximately 80 students currently are benefiting from the initiative.

23 May 2011Graduation Another Record-Breaker
Dutchess Community College celebrated its 52nd Commencement May 19, graduating the most students in its history. Associate degrees and career certificates in 54 programs of study were conferred on 1,201 graduates, who range in age from 18 to almost 67. The graduation ceremony was held in Falcon Hall on DCC’s main campus; more than 4,000 were in attendance, with many guests viewing the festivities at several simulcast sites throughout campus.

Dr. Timothy Snyder, Yale University professor and Marshall Scholar, will come to DCC on April 28 at 7 p.m. to present “Holocaust History: An Agenda for Renewal.” The lecture will be held in the James and Betty Hall Theatre in Dutchess Hall on DCC’s Poughkeepsie campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The Dutchess Community College Foundation’s annual Gala - Community’s Bridge to the Future - was held on Saturday, March 26 at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie. The event drew more than 300 guests to honor two outstanding individuals and raise more than $110,000 for student scholarships.

18 Feb 2011College to Host Hudson Valley FIRST Lego League Championship Tournament
Dutchess Community College will host the 2011 Hudson Valley FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League Tournament championship matches on Feb. 26, the culmination of local qualifying tournaments that took place this winter. The event, open to the public, will be held in the Falcon Hall gymnasium between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
