Information for Prospective Clients Tutoring on an individual basis is available free of charge for 2 hours a week, per subject, to currently enrolled students. Note: Students registering for a course against professional DCC staff advisement and/or without the proper prerequisite background are not eligible for tutoring services. Most tutoring sessions take place in Hudson 315 and last approximately one hour. Times are determined by matching the available time of both tutor and client. There is NO guarantee that we will be able to match you with a tutor. You will be notified of a match by e-mail, “snail mail”, or phone. One-to-One tutoring is a weekly commitment. It is not intended for test “cramming” or last minute homework help. By applying for an individual tutor, you agree to meet once or twice each week to gain full benefit from the tutoring program. Group tutoring is also available for many courses. Small groups of students work together at various locations on campus. Check our bulletin board for course offerings, days, times, and locations. Students are encouraged to attend group tutoring as often as possible. Tutor hours are reassigned based on attendance. Client Responsibilities By applying for tutoring, you agree to:
Remember: Tutoring sessions are scheduled. Tutors are not obligated to assist clients outside of scheduled sessions; they have assignments to complete also. Attention Tutors and Clients!!!!!!
Beginning with Summer 2006, tutoring correspondence will be conducted via e-mail. Therefore all students participating in the Tutoring Program MUST have an active email account. (We are moving away from our post card system.)
http://email.about.com/cs/freeemailreviews/tp/free_email.htm or http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_web.htm Use this account only for your college business and communications. This will help keep you organized, up-to-date and informed. You will be able to check your e-mail in the Tutoring Center (for tutoring purposes only), if you do not have computer access at home.
Once your application is submitted, be sure to check your e-mail on a daily basis. |
