The Music School at Dutchess Community College, part of DCC's Office of Community Services, will host a recital featuring members of its faculty March 28 at 4 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on DCC's main campus.

Denise Doring VanBuren, vice president of public relations at Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., and Michael Francis Dupree, freelance writer and Hyde Park Planning Board chairman, were appointed to the Dutchess Community College Board of Trustees at its Feb. 10 meeting.

The Dutchess Community College Foundation will host its 43rd Annual Craft Fair on Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 29 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day on the DCC main campus in Poughkeepsie. This has become one of the area's most anticipated hand-made crafts events.

Twenty-seven Dutchess Community College freshmen were formally awarded the 2014 Charles E. and Mabel E. Conklin Scholarship for Academic Excellence recently, joining family members and DCC staff members for a luncheon on campus. When combined with the Conklin scholars who began at DCC last fall, 64 students currently are benefiting from the initiative.

Two concerts will take place this fall at Dutchess Community College that are free and open to the public. Members of the DCC music faculty will perform vocal and instrumental selections Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre in Dutchess Hall on the DCC Poughkeepsie campus. On Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., West Point Band members Denver Dill (trumpet) and Yalin Chi (piano) will perform, also in the James and Betty Hall Theatre. Receptions will follow both performances, and the faculty concert will be streamed live at www.livestream.com/dutchesscc.

The annual Sing-a-Thon/Play-a-Thon hosted by the Music School at Dutchess Community College will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre on the main DCC campus in Poughkeepsie. The Music School is part of the College's Office of Community Services.

Dutchess Community College's Office of Community Services will offer a 12-week Certified Production Technician Program aimed at training eligible individuals for front-line manufacturing jobs such as assembler, machine operator, setup mechanic and more.

Dutchess Community College's Kids & Teens on Campus program will give youngsters between the ages of 6 and 17 the chance to spend part of their summer enjoying programs such as Outer Space, American Time Travel, Adventures in Computing, Web Design, Videography, Golf, Piano and much more.
