Entrance and Exit Interviews

Stafford Loan

Entrance Interview:

Complete an entrance interview online.  The online entrance interview will go over your rights and responsibilities of student loan borrowing.  This procedure must be done on a yearly basis via the Mapping Your Future website and is required. (www.mapping-your-future.org)  Confirmation will be electronically sent to the Office of Financial Aid within 24 hours of completion.  Or, you can print out an extra copy of your confirmation sheet and bring that into the Office of Financial Aid as proof that the interview was completed.  Always make sure that you keep a copy of the confirmation for your own records.

Exit Interview:

Complete an Exit Interview online.  Before you graduate (or if you drop below half-time attendance), federal regulations require that you complete an exit counseling session. The counseling session provides information about how to manage your student loans after college.  This procedure must be done via the Mapping Your Future website and is required.

Perkins & Federal Nursing Loans

Entrance Interviews:

Any student who is receives a Perkins or Nursing Student Loan and wants to accept the loan must complete two additional steps before the loan will be credited to their student account.  First, a Perkins or Nursing Student Loan Promissory Note will be included with the award letter packet and you must fill out the promissory note and return it to the Office of Financial Aid.  Secondly, you must go online and fill out an entrance interview for either the Perkins Loan or Nursing Loan (depending on the loan that you were awarded).  This can be done via the Mapping Your Future website, at www.mapping-your-future.org.   Both the online entrance and promissory note are required.  This is to be done for each academic year you are granted this loan award.

Exit Interviews:

Every semester a student is attending DCC and receiving either a Perkins or Nursing Student Loan, they are required by federal law to complete an exit interview- whether or not they are leaving school.  Notification will be sent out to you by mail to instruct you on how to complete this process.  Failure on your part to complete an exit interview will put your eligibility for these two loan programs in jeopardy for the future semester or academic year.
